Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 46 lemons)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1 cup filtered water

Instructions

  1. Wash lemons, then zest two lemons to yield about one tablespoon of zest.
  2. Cut lemons in half and juice them to get one cup of fresh lemon juice.
  3. In a blender, combine lemon juice, zest, sugar, basil leaves, and water; blend until smooth.
  4. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl to remove any solids.
  5. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1-2 hours until chilled.
  6. Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer instructions until soft-serve consistency is achieved.
