Description

Scalloped Potatoes are a delightful blend of creamy and cheesy goodness that transforms any meal into a special occasion. Made with layers of tender, thinly sliced potatoes enveloped in a rich garlic-infused cream sauce, this dish is baked to perfection until golden and bubbly. Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Russet potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 ½ cups aged cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion, sautéed
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and slice the potatoes about 1/8 inch thick for even cooking.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter; add chopped onions and minced garlic, cooking until translucent (about 5 minutes).
  4. Pour heavy cream into the skillet with onions and garlic; stir in salt, pepper, and nutmeg; let simmer.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the potato slices evenly on the bottom. Pour half of the creamy sauce over them and sprinkle half of the cheese on top.
  6. Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes, sauce, and cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; then remove foil and bake an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.
