- 2 medium sweet onions, sliced
- 4–6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 6 soft burger buns (or brioche)
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp cumin
- Coleslaw for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Season the chuck roast with salt and pepper. Sear it in a hot skillet until browned on all sides.
- Sauté sliced onions and minced garlic in the same skillet until fragrant and translucent.
- Place the seared beef into the slow cooker along with sautéed onions, garlic, beef broth, BBQ sauce, and spices.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours until the beef is tender enough to shred.
- Shred the beef using two forks in the slow cooker and mix it back into the juices.
