- 8 oz smoked sausage, sliced
- 8 oz penne or rotini pasta
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prep your ingredients by chopping the chicken and sausage into bite-sized pieces.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add 2 tbsp olive oil. Sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until fragrant.
- Add the chicken pieces and sliced sausage to the skillet. Cook until browned on all sides (7-10 minutes).
- Stir in the uncooked pasta and enough water or broth to cover it (about 3 cups). Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer until pasta is al dente (approximately 10 minutes).
- Pour in the heavy cream and BBQ sauce; stir well and simmer for another 2-3 minutes until creamy.
- Remove from heat and stir in grated cheddar cheese until melted. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
