Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the active sourdough starter and flour. Add warm milk until combined; let sit for 30 minutes.
- Brown the unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden and nutty. Allow it to cool slightly.
- In another bowl, whisk together sugar, cinnamon, salt, eggs, and vanilla extract. Combine with dough and add browned butter; mix well.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter on top, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, then roll tightly into a log.
- Cut into pieces about 1-2 inches thick. Place in a greased baking dish and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
