  • 12 lasagna noodles (no-boil)
  • 1 lb ground beef or sausage
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese (whole milk)
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese (freshly grated)
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • 1 cup fresh basil (chopped)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 medium onion (diced)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté diced onions until translucent. Stir in minced garlic until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef or sausage; cook until browned and break apart as it cooks.
  4. Pour in marinara sauce; let simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with eggs, salt, pepper, and half the chopped basil.
  6. In a greased baking dish, layer meat sauce, lasagna noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella cheese repeatedly until ingredients are used up.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
