  • 2 medium sweet onions, sliced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 tsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and form into four 1-inch thick patties.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add sliced onions and sauté until caramelized (about 8-10 minutes).
  4. Pour in beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and sprinkle flour while stirring to avoid lumps. Simmer until thickened.
  5. Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet and simmer for another 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  6. Serve hot over mashed potatoes or rice.
