  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (21 oz)
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • Dark chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine chocolate cake mix, cocoa powder, eggs, and water; blend until smooth.
  3. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool completely.
  4. Beat softened cream cheese until smooth; gradually add powdered sugar.
  5. Level cooled cakes and layer with half of the cream cheese mixture and half of the cherry filling on one cake layer.
  6. Add the second cake layer and repeat with remaining cream cheese mixture and cherry filling.
  7. Whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form; pipe over the layered cheesecake.
  8. Garnish with dark chocolate shavings and refrigerate for at least four hours before serving.
