  • 1 graham cracker crust
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 3 medium ripe bananas
  • Whipped cream for topping

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the premade graham cracker crust in your baking dish. For homemade, mix crushed graham crackers with melted butter and press into the dish.
  2. 2. In a saucepan over medium heat, warm the milk and sugar until just below boiling. In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks and temper them with some of the warm milk mixture.
  3. 3. Slowly add the tempered egg yolks back to the saucepan, stirring continuously until thickened (about 5–7 minutes).
  4. 4. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract until melted. Let cool slightly.
  5. 5. Slice bananas and layer them on the cooled crust. Pour the creamy filling over the bananas and smooth it out.
  6. 6. Chill the pie for at least three hours or overnight. Before serving, top generously with whipped cream.
