Ingredients
Scale
- 1 graham cracker crust
- 2 cups whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 3 medium ripe bananas
- Whipped cream for topping
Instructions
- 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the premade graham cracker crust in your baking dish. For homemade, mix crushed graham crackers with melted butter and press into the dish.
- 2. In a saucepan over medium heat, warm the milk and sugar until just below boiling. In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks and temper them with some of the warm milk mixture.
- 3. Slowly add the tempered egg yolks back to the saucepan, stirring continuously until thickened (about 5–7 minutes).
- 4. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract until melted. Let cool slightly.
- 5. Slice bananas and layer them on the cooled crust. Pour the creamy filling over the bananas and smooth it out.
- 6. Chill the pie for at least three hours or overnight. Before serving, top generously with whipped cream.
