Description

Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Active Dry Yeast
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Salt
  • Warm Milk
  • Unsalted Butter
  • Eggs
  • Cherry Filling (fresh or canned)
  • Powdered Sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Create a well in the center.
  2. Pour warm milk and melted butter into the well with the beaten egg. Stir until combined to form sticky dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Meanwhile, prepare the cherry filling by heating cherries with sugar in a saucepan until bubbly.
  6. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal pieces. Roll each piece into circles (4 inches wide) and spoon in some cherry filling.
  7. Fold edges to seal tightly and place each bun seam side down on greased baking sheets. Let rise again for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake buns for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Allow cooling before dusting with powdered sugar if desired.
