Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries (for filling and garnish)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 4–5 minutes).
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with whole milk until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool cakes in pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
